In Character Theatre Production - Llion Williams
He is a statistician working for the Welsh Government, and is a bit of a genius. The Government have given him a task - to ensure that one million people can speak Welsh by 2050. As he starts to count the members of the audience, he soon realises that this will be a very difficult job indeed! He needs inspiration, and decides to research into the history of the language. He presents 10 important historical events linked to the Welsh language - from the Act of Union, to the translation of the Bible, the treachery of the Blue Books to the Welsh Not. As the show develops, he becomes more positive as he talks about the formation of Urdd Gobaith Cymru and the growth in Welsh medium education. At the end, full of hope and joy, he encourages the audience to embrace the language, as THEY are the ones who will count in 2050. Presenting Welsh history with fun and excitement. |

Mae Llys Malpas yn blasty arddull Tuduraidd a gynlluniwyd gan Thomas Henry Wyatt ac a adeiladwyd rhwng 1834 a 1838 ar gyfer Thomas Prothero, asiant i deulu Morgan Tŷ Tredegar.
Cafodd y gerddi eu plannu'n gywrain iawn gyda therasau ar y blaen gyda golygfeydd dros gefn gwlad. Ganwyd Thomas Prothero ym Mrynbuga, tua 1780, a daeth yn asiant i Syr Charles Morgan (Arglwydd Tredegar) yn ogystal â dirprwy siryf a thrysorydd Sir Fynwy a chlerc y dref ar gyfer Casnewydd. Daeth Prothero a'i bartner busnes, Thomas Powell, yn brif allforwyr glo yn ne Cymru ac roedd y teulu Prothero yn byw yn Llys Malpas o 1838 hyd 1916. Yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd, defnyddiwyd Llys Malpas fel depo a daeth yn ganolfan gorffwys ac ym 1946 fe'i prynwyd gan Gyngor Bwrdeistref Casnewydd a datblygwyd y tiroedd yn ystad dai. Daeth Llys Malpas yn adeilad rhestredig Gradd II ym 1997 ac fe'i dygwyd yn ôl i ofal y cyngor ym 1998. |
Malpas Court is a Tudor style mansion building designed by Thomas Henry Wyatt and built between 1834 and 1838 for Thomas Prothero, agent to the Morgan family of Tredegar House.
The gardens were finely planted with terraces on the front with views over rolling countryside. Thomas Prothero was born in Usk, circa 1780, and became an agent for Sir Charles Morgan (Lord Tredegar) as well as deputy sheriff and treasurer of the county of Monmouth and town clerk for Newport. Prothero and his business partner, Thomas Powell, became the principle coal exporters in south Wales and the Prothero family lived at Malpas Court from 1838 until 1916. During World War II, Malpas Court was used as a depot and became a rest centre and in 1946 it was bought by Newport Borough Council and the grounds were developed into a housing estate. Malpas Court became a Grade II listed building in 1997 and was brought back into council care in 1998. |
